Download hotComm CL for Moderators and Presenters

hotComm CL is a Windows product. You can download and install it and use it in hotComm rooms and events that allow hotComm CL.


How to Install hotComm CL for Moderators and Presenters

To download and install hotComm CL:

  1. Click the Download hotComm CL-MP button. When you get the File Download window, select Open or Run instead of Save.
    Click to download hotComm CL for Moderators and Presenters Do not uninstall before updating.
    Select Open or Run, not Save.
    You MAY need to re-start your computer after some updates.
    The current revision is: 7.30.005x (4.8Mb)

  2. Run the installer (hclsetupmp.exe). If you selected Run or Open, it starts automatically. Follow instructions in the installation screens.

  3. The install takes a bit longer than the usual hotComm CL install, because it includes adding the Timed Camera Mirror Driver as a Display Adapter.

  4. At the end of the installation program, hotComm starts.

    If your privacy or security products challenge hotComm, always allow hotComm to access any site.

  5. If you get a message saying you need to update, it usually means that you have a copy of the old installer saved on your computer. Click here to update: Update CL-MP. Click here for About the Update Notice.

Check your privacy and security products to make sure that they allow hotComm to access the Internet, and also allow you to access these addresses: hotComm.com, ezPeer.net, 1stWorks.com. For information about some firewall products, see Firewalls.


Test Audio and Connection

  1. Important! To verify that your computer will work correctly with hotComm technology, click this link: Audio Test and wait at least 15 seconds for the pre-recorded message. The hotComm CL password is: test.

  2. Disconnect from the Audio Test room and connect to your room or webinar.

Connect to Room or Webinar

To connect directly to the relay and room you entered into the shortcut, double-click the "Connect to roomname on relayserver" shortcut icon.

Note: some people prefer to double-click the "hotComm CL" icon first to start hotComm CL, and then double-click the "Connect to roomname on relayserver" icon to connect to the room.

Otherwise, to join your room or webinar, follow the instructions given you by the room or webinar organizer.

Note: if you have multiple hotComm products installed, this icon starts the one you used most recently.


About the Update Notice



The Update notice means that your copy of hotComm is not updated to the revision required for the room you want to join.

Your hotComm revision number is shown on the top line of your hotComm window.

If you get the "Update required" notice, you probably have an old copy of the installer saved on your computer. (Windows is running the saved copy instead of the new one you just downloaded.) To fix this, delete any saved copies of hclsetupmp.exe, delete Temporary Internet Files, and try again.


How to Delete Saved Installers

Find and delete all copies of the installation program (hclsetupmp.exe):

  1. Open the Windows Start menu. Select Search or Find.

  2. Select Files and folders, and type hclsetupmp.exe as the filename. Click Search.

  3. Highlight all files that were found and press the Delete key.

  4. Close the search or find windows.

hotComm Auto Updates

Dial-up and Satellite users should disable hotComm auto updating, for speed reasons. To do this:

  1. Start hotComm CL.

  2. Right-click the hotComm headset icon in your Windows taskbar, and click About hotComm CL

  3. In the About hotComm window, un-check Allow Auto Update and Allow Auto Download.

How do I delete Temporary Internet Files?

  • Windows Control Panel - delete Temporary Internet Files:

    1. Click the Windows Start menu.
    2. Select Control Panel.
    3. Select Internet Options.
    4. Select the General tab.
    5. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Delete Files button.
    6. Do not check the clear Offline Content box. Click Ok.
    7. Close the Control Panel windows.


  • Internet Explorer - delete Temporary Internet Files:

    1. Open Internet Explorer.
    2. Select the Tools menu.
    3. Select Internet Options.
    4. Select the General tab.
    5. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Delete Files button.
    6. Do not check the clear Offline Content box. Click Ok.
    7. Click Ok to close the Tools window.


  • FireFox (Mozilla) - clear browser cache

    1. Open FireFox (Mozilla).
    2. Click the Tools menu.
    3. Click Options.
    4. Click Privacy.
    5. Click the Clear button for Cache.


  • AOL - clear browser cache:

    AOL 9.0
    1. Click Settings.
    2. Select the Index tab, and click Internet [Web] Options.
    3. Under Browsing History, where it says to Delete temporary files, cookies, saved passwords, and web form information, click Delete.
    4. Wait while the files are deleted, then click OK.


    AOL 7.0
    1. In Keyword, enter: PREFERENCES. Or, on the Settings menu on the AOL toolbar, click Preferences.
    2. In the Organization section of the Preferences window, click Internet Properties (WWW).
    3. In the Temporary Internet Files section, click Delete Files.
    4. Click OK.


  • Netscape - clear browser cache

    1. Open Netscape.
    2. Click the Edit menu.
    3. Click Preferences.
    4. Click Advanced. It expands to show a list of options.
    5. Click Cache.
    6. Click Clear Memory Cache.
    7. Click Clear Disk Cache.
    8. Click OK.
  • Netscape Download Manager - remove installation file

    1. Click the Tools menu.
    2. Click Download Manager.
    3. Highlight the hotComm installation program and click Remove from list.
    4. Close the Download Manager window.
