How to Moderate a Session
with hotComm CL

To moderate a session with hotComm CL, you:
  1. Log in with the Moderator password.

  2. Use the Session Control toolbar to enable or disable Guest features.

  3. Disconnect unwanted people from the meeting, using the Invited List menu options.

In addition, you have all the features that Guests and Presenters have. See Getting Started, Walkthru and hotComm CL for Presenters.

You can enable or disable these features for Guests (all features are always enabled for Presenters and other Moderators).

Click the buttons to toggle between enabling and disabling the feature. When the feature is disabled, the button is grayed out.

You can control how microphones are used by Guests:

Microphone on left Push-to-talk mode Guests hold the microphone button down while talking. The mic turns off when the button is released.

These are common combinations of the microphone Session Control buttons:

Allow an open session. Multiple peers can use their microphones in normal mode (always-on).

Microphone mode is Push-to-talk, but multiple peers can use the microphone at the same time.

Microphone mode is normal (always-on), but only one peer can have a microphone on at a time.



Invited List controls



The Invited List shows the names of the people who are in the meeting. You can:

  • Double-click a name to send a Private Message to the person.

  • Right-click on a name to select an option from a menu:

    Turn off microphoneDisable that person's microphone without affecting other people.
    DisconnectRemove the person from the meeting.
    Disconnect and BlockRemove the person and prevent them from re-joining the meeting.
