About ezPeer

ezPeer provides an Internet address for a hotComm server.

The ezPeer address is: http://website.ezpeer.net

where website is the name of the server. For example, if the website is Relay5, the ezPeer address is relay5.ezpeer.net or http://relay5.ezpeer.net.

If you are using hotComm Standard/Pro peer-to-peer, then you can use your hotComm as the server. You chose the website for your hotComm during hotComm Standard/Pro registration. (To find your ezPeer address, select Registration, then Profile Information.) Note: you may need to open incoming and outgoing ports in your firewall. See hotComm p2p.

ezPeer Contents

The ezPeer website can include any of the files in the hotcomm/WEB folder or sub-folders. It might include:

ezPeer home page, DEFAULT.HTM, with its related graphics files. You can edit this file. When the hotComm server is online, this is the default home page. When the hotComm server is offline, an alternate message is displayed. See Dynamic webpage.

DEFAULT.HTM is located in c:\program files\1stWorks\hotComm\WEB\DEFAULT.HTM. Do not confuse it with the DEFAULT.HTM file in the \WEB\IM-Live\ folder.

You can place other webpages and folders in the hotComm/WEB folder, and access them through the ezPeer address. For example, you could put MYRESUME.HTM in the hotComm/WEB folder, and then access it as http://website.ezpeer.net/MYRESUME.HTM.

Note that ezPeer does not support server-side scripting, such as .ASP or .PHP pages.

ezPeer Dynamic Page

If the hotComm server is online, ezPeer displays the DEFAULT.HTM set up for that server. If the hotComm server is not online, ezPeer displays a standard message instead.

For example, if you visit the 1stWorks Support ezPeer site (support.ezpeer.net) and it is online, you might see a page with a message such as this:
