Playback .HCR Session Recording

Individual users can play back session recordings for themselves through hotComm Standard/Pro, hotComm Lite and hotComm CL. See Who Can Record and Playback.

Offline Playback - You can play a recording offline, without being connected to the 1stWorks Network, such as on an airplane.

hotComm Standard/Pro moderators can broadcast a session recording into a room. Any hotComm client (including Java) can view a recording played back through a room.


Viewing a recording in a room

If a recording is being played in a room, you see it as if it were a realtime presentation. There is nothing special you need to do to view a recording in a room.

Viewing individually through hotComm Standard/Pro

To play the recording through hotComm Standard/Pro:

  1. Make sure the Recording Playback Toolbar is visible. Click View, then Playback Toolbar.

    Playback Toolbar

    The options are (left to right):
    • Stop playback
    • Go to start
    • Jump Back in 30 second increments.
    • Playback individually (not in a room).
    • Pause
    • Jump Forward in 1 minute increments.
    • Forward to end
    • Playback into a room

    The triangles are colored when you can playback. Blue means individual playback. Yellow means in-a-room playback.

  2. Click the blue triangle or the yellow triangle in the Playback Toolbar. This opens the Select Session Media for Playback window.

    Check playback options:

    Skip no audio segmentDo not playback any part of the recording that does not have audio. (The audio portion is recorded with long silences omitted. The full recording coordinates the audio and silences with the visual part of the recording.)


  3. Click the file you want to play back, and click Open. This starts the recording.

    Session recording files have a .HCR extension. Note that this option shows only .HCR files.

  4. To control the recording, use the features of the Playback Toolbar. Fast forward and Rewind are described here:

    Feature Description
    Playback Toolbar Use the Playback Toolbar to Jump Back and Jump Forward.

    To show the toolbar, Select View, then Playback Toolbar.

    • Click << to Jump Back in 30 second increments.

    • Click >> to Jump Forward in 1 minute increments.



    Playback Slider Use the Playback Slider to move backwards and forwards.

    The slider appears on the bottom line of the hotComm window when the playback starts.



    Note: if you Fast Forward or Rewind to a point that is very close to the beginning or end of the recording, the playback stops.


Viewing individually through hotComm Lite

You can playback session recordings through hotComm Lite if you have been given a set of session recording files.

  1. Place the files in your hotCommLite/T'SCRIPTS folder The full path to this folder is: c://program files/1stWorks/hotCommLite/T'SCRIPTS/

  2. Follow the instructions for Playback through hotComm Standard/Pro, above.

or

  1. Find the session recording file (.HCR) that you want to playback.

  2. Right-click on the filename and select Open with and select hotComm Lite. This should start hotComm Lite and playback the session.


Viewing individually through hotComm CL

You can playback session recordings through hotComm CL if you have been given a set of session recording files.

  1. Find the session recording file (.HCR) that you want to playback.

  2. Right-click on the filename and select Open with and select hotComm CL. This should start hotComm CL and playback the session.


Playback Options

Check playback options:

Maintain Library

Click Maintain Library to open the T'SCRIPTS folder, where the recording files are saved.
