Audio in Multiple Rooms

With a hotComm Standard/Pro license, you can join multiple rooms at the same time on the same computer.

You get charts and typing from all rooms at the same time.

You get audio from one room at a time. hotComm automatically seeks for a speaking voice or WAV file. Once audio is found, hotComm will play audio in that session, until that session is silent for some time. When the silence is detected, hotComm starts seeking audio again.

Or, you can choose which room has audio focus.

To set and remove audio focus:

  • To choose a room, click the message underneath the Invited List in that room. The message text turns red.

Note: your selection may not work unless there is sound in the room you want. In this case, wait until the room you want has sound and then select the room again.

  • To remove audio focus, click the message again. The message text turns black.

  • To switch audio focus from one room to another:

    1. Click the message under the Invited List in the room that currently has audio focus

    2. Then click the message in the room to which you want to give audio focus.

There may be a short pause when audio changes rooms.

These are examples of the messages indicating audio focus state:

All microphones are off, the room does not have audio focus.

Audio Focus OFF Mic OFF
A microphone is on, but the room does not have audio focus.

Audio Focus OFF Mic ON
The room has audio focus, but no microphones are on or no one is speaking.

Audio Focus ON Mic OFF
The room has audio focus, and microphones are on.

Audio Focus ON Mic ON
