hotDayTrainer

hotDayTrainer is a utility based on the Standard & Poors eMini Futures Market.

It can account for all your transactions and give you a cumulative Profit & Loss for the day, allowing you to try several methods and systems.

If you use it in a hotComm trading room, you might:

Optionally, display your trades to the other members of a Room.
Compete for the most money made in a day.

How to start hotDayTrainer

To start hotDayTrainer, click the View menu, then click dayTrainer. The first time you use hotDayTrainer, you see a small window -- check "Log Only". That opens the full hotDayTrainer window.

How to use the hotDayTrainer

To use it:

Set the price for a mini-contract.
Set # of mini-contracts to the number you want to buy.
Select Long or Short.
As the price of the mini-contract changes in the market, adjust your Price.
When you want to sell, set # of mini-contracts to the number you want to sell, and click Out.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all mini-contracts have been sold.

hotDayTrainer maintains a day tally of your transactions, and a transcript of activity. Each day's transcript is saved in your hotComm T'SCRIPTS folder.

The hotDayTrainer window contains:

Item Description

Price Select the price for a mini-contract.

# of mini-Contracts Select the number of mini-contracts you want to trade.

Long
Out
Short Click Long or Short to indicate how you want to sell. When you are ready to sell, click Out. (Note: the Long and Short buttons stay pressed until all the mini-contracts have been sold.)

Results Points you made as a result of selling this group of mini-contracts. (Note: each point is worth $50 USD.)

Paper Check to indicate that you are trading on paper, rather than with real money. Uncheck to indicate that you are trading with real money.

Private Mode Check to avoid displaying your results to the other traders. Uncheck to display your results to others.

Day Tally

Transactions @ # /RT/mini This shows your total number of transactions, where a transaction is one round-trip mini-contract. You can set the cost per transaction.

RT (round trip) means a Buy-and-Sell or a Sell-and-Buy dual transaction.

A mini-Contract is what the vast majority that day traders operate with. A full contract is 100 mini-contracts, but is bigger than the average day trader might do.

Example: Assuming that an RT costs $10 and a mini-contract nets you $50/point/contract, if you go long at 900 with 2 contracts and get OUT at 901, you made 2 X $50 = $100 less 2 X $10 commissions or $80 net.

Results Total points you made on this day.

Today's Pft/Loss Total profit and loss for today.

Post Stats Display your statistics in the hotComm Room now.

Clear Day Resets today's Day Tally to zero (0) transactions.

Close Close the hotDayTrainer window.

Transcript (log) area

Copy Selected to Clipboard Highlight selected lines in the transcript and click this button to copy the selected lines to the Windows clipboard. You can then paste the copied lines into other applications.

Copy All to Clipboard Click to copy the entire transcript to the Windows clipboard. You can then paste the copied lines into other applications.

Transcript This area shows a transcript of today's activity. The transcript is cleared every day.

The previous day's transcript is saved in your hotComm T'SCRIPTS folder.

To hide the Day Tally and transcript areas of the window, click the Hide Day Tally & Log button.
