HiFi Sound
| Send HiFi |
To send high quality sound (especially music) to session participants, select Send HiFi. Note:
- Only one person in a session can select Send HiFi.
- Send HiFi is cleared at the end of the session. Set it again, each time you want to send high quality sound.
- Send HiFi is not appropriate for sessions that include participants with dial-up connections because of the speed. Participants must have DSL, cable modem, or other broadband connections.
- When Send HiFi is on, the microphone icon turns magenta with a blue background.
| Approximate speeds |
| Send HiFi Setting | Speed | Comment |
| Selected | 6-9 Kb/second | Music and high quality voice |
| Not selected | 1 Kb/second | Standard voice quality |

Music
To send music through a hotComm room:
Right-click the hotComm mic button and:
- Check the HiFi box.
- Click the Audio Record Controls button.
- In the Windows Recording Control window, select Options and then Properties.
- In the Properties window, make sure that the Mixer device is set to WAV (for example, mine is set to VIA Audio (WAVE).
- Click OK to everything to close the windows.
Turn your mic on (left click the mic button). With HiFi on, it should show as a pink mic on a yellow stand.
Play your music through Windows Media Player or any other audio player, and it should play through the room.
Note: the room must be enabled for HiFi, and the moderator must not have disabled invited guests' mics.
